Popular singer Ingrid Andress recently performed the US National Anthem at an MLB game while intoxicated. Following the performance, she promised to enter rehab.
Andress, 32, was invited to sing the anthem at Globe Life Field before the start of the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas.
According to The Guardian, her performance was marked by noticeable trembling in her voice, leading to moments where she sounded like a “rooster crowing.” The athletes and spectators couldn’t hide their reactions, with some athletes laughing. “I was drunk last night,” wrote Andress, “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”
After the match, many wrote a variety of comments about the singer on social networks.
She added: “I’ll let y’all know how rehab is; I hear it’s super fun.” Andress’s a-capella version of the anthem was called “painful” and “one of the worst national-anthem renditions ever”, on social media.
