Selena Gomez opens up about, how she gets her bad moments under control.
Actress and singer who rose to fame at a young age has been open about her struggles with mental health. In 2018 she was admitted to a clinic after a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Selena has learned how to manage her anxiety over time and in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. She shares some unique tricks that help him stay grounded.
One of the methods Selena uses is plunging into cold water or heating up a room when she feels overwhelmed. She described these actions as “grounding mechanisms.” While these approaches may seem unusual to some experts consulted by the Daily Mail, they confirmed that there is science behind them.
Cold water therapy, such as taking a cool shower twice a week, has been shown to boost mood. Cold temperatures can activate the nervous system increasing blood flow to the brain and triggering the release of norepinephrine, a hormone that helps improve mood and reduce stress.
Although research on the effects of heat on anxiety is more limited, some experts believe that heat can also help reduce stress by relaxing the body and calming the mind.
