Influential American rapper and music producer Sean Combs has been arrested on charges of human trafficking and sexual assault. AFP reported that Homeland Security apprehended the 54-year-old artist, widely known to fans as “Diddy,” from a Manhattan hotel on Monday night Sep. 16.
In November of last year, accusations surfaced that Sean was involved in human trafficking for sexual exploitation. At that time, 10 sexual assault allegations were filed against him.
Additionally, he faced lawsuits claiming he committed brutal acts of sexual violence against women.
It was alleged that he used drugs to force women into being sexually assaulted, causing a major uproar in the music industry. This led to an investigation by Homeland Security, which resulted in his arrest.
In a statement to AFP, Sean’s lawyer, Mark Angifilo, said that his client is fully cooperating with the investigation and has nothing to hide.
Sean Combs, a three-time Grammy Award winner, is considered one of the most successful rappers and music producers of this era.
