Britain’s King Charles III and his wife Camilla experienced a brief interruption during their visit to Jersey on Monday, July 15. While attending an outdoor exhibition in the island’s square, the royal couple was swiftly moved to the nearby Pomme D’or hotel due to a security concern that turned out to be a false alarm.
The interruption lasted for about 20 minutes, after which King Charles and Queen Camilla were able to return to the square. They continued with their planned engagements, meeting local schoolchildren and later attending a tea party.
A royal source commented on the incident, stating, “There was a small issue of concern; an investigation turned out to be a false alarm; every precaution was taken; and the programme resumed shortly afterwards.”
Eamon Fenlon, the managing director of Jersey Dairy, provided further details on the situation. “I had just given the Queen an ice cream, and I turned back to get one myself before we had a chat. But when I turned back around, she had been whisked off. Some of the other people told me it was a drone, but whether that’s official or not, I don’t know,” Fenlon explained.
Despite the brief disruption, the visit continued smoothly, allowing the royal couple to enjoy the rest of their time in Jersey.
