A psychologist recently weighed in on whether Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have a chance for reconciliation. The couple who once separated amidst scandal now appear to be back in each other’s lives, at least when it comes to family matters.
Fans were initially surprised when Lopez and Affleck were spotted together after their split. They were seen having lunch with their children at the Beverly Hills Hotel, even exchanging light kisses on the cheek.
Although Jennifer Garner picked up Affleck’s children after lunch, Lopez and Affleck, along with her children, left together in the same car. Soon after, they attended a school event together, appearing calm and comfortable while walking around the campus with their kids.
Affleck’s son, especially, seemed excited to see Lopez, hugging her tightly. These recent appearances have led many fans to hope for a romantic reunion. However, psychologists are skeptical about the couple getting back together.
One psychologist pointed out that Lopez maintains a good relationship with Affleck’s children, but this doesn’t necessarily reflect her relationship with Ben.
The psychologist explained that while Lopez a strong, nurturing figure, Affleck may still be emotionally immature. Describing him as “infantile,” the psychologist noted that he tends to lean on Lopez for support, but it’s unclear what she gains from the relationship.
The expert added that while Lopez may be flattered by the positive impact she has on Affleck’s life she often doesn’t seem happy in photos with him. Affleck, the psychologist said, can act controlling when he’s with Lopez, but appears sad and melancholic when he’s alone.
Ultimately, the psychologist believes that while their relationship now seems healthier than it was during their time together Affleck may never reach emotional maturity, and Lopez may need to accept that.
