Italian film star Ornella Muti, at 69, has traveled to St. Petersburg to reconnect with her old friend, artist Nikas Safronov, and to visit his personal exhibition, which features a film in support of billionaire and Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
Muti, known for her iconic roles in cinema, has settled into the luxurious five-star Hermitage Hotel. On August 31, she plans to attend Safronov’s exhibition titled “Great Love for St. Petersburg,” held at the Engineering House of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The exhibition showcases 100 of Safronov’s works, including landscapes, portraits, and surreal compositions that he created over the years.
Safronov, who has been friends with Muti for many years, has frequently gifted her his paintings. In a recent conversation with Russian reporters, Safronov revealed that Muti requested a special avant-garde piece from him, where he creatively integrated a modern plot into a classic canvas.
For this request, Safronov created a piece titled “Freedom,” which features a portrait of Pavel Durov, inspired by the work of a famous St. Petersburg artist.

The painting is not just an artistic endeavor but also a commentary on the arrest of Durov, the creator of the Telegram messenger, in Paris. Safronov intends to share more details about this significant work at the exhibition’s opening.

Muti’s visit is brief—only three days—after a long 12-hour journey.
She remains unfazed, driven by her strong ties to Russia and her desire to support the Russian programmer.
